House in Seaside, Oregon

4 guests • 2 bedrooms • 2 beds • 2 full baths
Turtle Terrace is a classic Seaside beach house with the comfortable character of a longtime family coastal retreat. Tucked into a quiet little pocket of the neighborhood a few blocks from the north end of the Seaside Promenade is a two-bedroom, two-bath home that you and your family will love. If you’re after the feeling of an old-fashioned Oregon Coast getaway—a place where you can settle in, put your feet up, view the river, and enjoy being close to the beach—Seaside Turtle Terrace offers exactly that. Inside, the home has a wood grain coastal cabin feel, with vaulted ceilings, comfortable furnishings in gathering spaces, and a homey feeling that you won't get in a hotel room or a condo. The décor is classic Oregonian, and the home furnishing are genuine. There is room to spread out, relax, play games, share meals, and spend time together after a day at the beach. The living area provides a comfortable spot to gather, while the dining and kitchen areas keep everyone connected during meals and morning coffee. A washer and dryer are available for guest use, making longer stays easier, and a natural gas grill is available for use on the deck. The home has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeps up to four guests. The primary bedroom features a king bed, while the second bedroom has a queen bed. The bedrooms offer a comfortable place to retreat at the end of the day, while the rest of the home provides plenty of space for relaxing and spending time together. The overall atmosphere is casual, cozy, and distinctly reminiscent of a traditional family beach house. Outside, the spacious deck and fenced yard give you room to enjoy the fresh coastal air without being right in the middle of the busier parts of Seaside. Bring your morning coffee outside, let the dogs stretch their legs, or gather with your group after a day exploring the coast. A private fire pit is available during the permitted portion of the year and offers a classic way to end a coastal evening. Please note that the fire pit is unavailable during county- or statewide burn bans, which typically run from June 1 through December. Turtle Terrace is pet-friendly, so your four-legged family members are welcome to enjoy the coast with you. The home also has a Level 2 EV charger (220v/16A) J1772 plug, located in the garage for guests traveling with an electric vehicle. The location is one of the home's biggest draws. Turtle Terrace sits just off the Seaside Promenade in a quieter residential pocket, giving you a tucked-away neighborhood setting while keeping the beach remarkably close. Walk a couple of blocks west and you'll reach the ocean and the northern end of the Seaside Promenade. From there, you can stroll along the beach or follow the Promenade toward the heart of town. Downtown Seaside is approximately three-quarters of a mile away and can be reached on foot by following the river. Along the way and once you reach downtown, you'll find restaurants, coffee shops, local stores, the historic Seaside Aquarium, and the Seaside Carousel. The Promenade itself is one of Seaside's signature attractions, stretching along the oceanfront and providing an easy route for walking, biking, and taking in the views. For those who want to explore beyond Seaside, the northern Oregon Coast offers plenty to see and do. Head north toward Gearhart and Astoria (site of the Goonies film house) for additional beaches, restaurants, golf courses, breweries, shops, museums, coastal scenery, Fort Stevens, Fort Clatsop, the Astoria-Megler Bridge, the Astoria Riverwalk, and the Astoria Column. Head east up into the Seaside hills and subdivisions for some stunning views of the city and ocean, or head south toward Cannon Beach and Ecola State Park, or see amazing ocean views from US 101 South heading towards Tillamook Cheese Factory. Dig for many different types of clams on the beach (in season) or go crabbing in the estuary. Golfers will find several courses within the surrounding area, with five courses between Seaside and Astoria. Hikers or trail runners can walk or run 3 miles south of the house to the Tillamook Head Trailhead, a National Recreation Trail. Whether your ideal coastal day involves walking the beach, exploring town, playing a round of golf, or simply sitting outside and listening to the ocean, Turtle Terrace puts you in a convenient position to enjoy it. A few practical things to know before booking: Turtle Terrace is a genuine, family beach home with 3 levels with short flights of stairs. The owners continue to use the home themselves during specific times of the year, and it has a relaxed atmosphere that guests will also enjoy. The home is pet-friendly with a fenced backyard. Parking is available for two vehicles in the driveway. Overnight street parking is not permitted for vacation rental guests, although additional overnight parking permits may be available through the Seaside Visitors Bureau. There is also a public parking lot at 12th and Necanicum. Security cameras are active on the property. Guests must be 21 or older to book. The fire pit is unavailable from June 1 through December 1. Seaside, OR, USA
About the neighborhood
Turtle Terrace sits in one of those tucked-away little pockets of Seaside that can feel a world away from the busier parts of town, even though the ocean is just a couple of blocks away. The neighborhood is residential and relaxed, with the comfortable, slightly nostalgic character that makes the Oregon Coast feel like the Oregon Coast. Older beach homes, quiet streets, coastal vegetation, and the salty air drifting in from the ocean give the area a distinctly local, lived-in feel. This isn't a resort complex or a row of polished vacation rentals—it’s a real Seaside neighborhood where generations of families have come to spend time at the coast. Walk west from the house and you'll quickly find yourself at the northern end of the Seaside Promenade. You can hear the ocean before you reach it, and within a few minutes you're standing at the edge of the sand with the waves rolling in. The Promenade stretches along the shoreline and is perfect for an early morning walk with a cup of coffee, an evening stroll as the sun begins to drop, or a casual walk into town. On stormy days, the coastline takes on an entirely different personality, with crashing waves, wind, and the unmistakable drama of the Pacific. The beach itself is wonderfully accessible. You can wander down in the morning to watch surfers and beachcombers, spend an afternoon building sandcastles or searching the shoreline, then head back to the house when you're ready for a warm shower and something to eat. Dogs and their people are a common sight along the coast, and there is something particularly satisfying about coming home sandy, windblown, and ready to settle into the evening. Although the neighborhood is quiet, you're never far from the energy of Seaside. Downtown is approximately three-quarters of a mile away and is an easy walk along the river. The route takes you toward the heart of town, where you'll find restaurants, cafés, ice cream shops, local stores, and the classic attractions that have made Seaside a favorite Oregon Coast destination for generations. The Seaside Promenade is the center of much of the town's activity. You'll see people walking, jogging, biking, pushing strollers, walking dogs, and stopping to watch the waves. The historic Seaside Aquarium is nearby, as is the famous Seaside Carousel. Grab breakfast in town, wander through the shops, stop for ice cream, and make your way back along the oceanfront. It's easy to spend a day here without ever needing to get in the car. Seaside itself has a wonderfully nostalgic coastal-town personality. It isn't trying to be overly sophisticated or polished; it's a place built around the simple pleasures of being at the beach. There are longtime local businesses alongside newer restaurants and shops, classic attractions mixed with modern conveniences, and plenty of opportunities to slow down and enjoy the coastline. When you're ready to venture farther, the northern Oregon Coast opens up in both directions. Head north toward Gearhart and Astoria for wide-open beaches, local restaurants, breweries, historic sites, museums, and waterfront scenery. Astoria sits at the mouth of the Columbia River and is approximately 17 miles from Seaside, making it an easy day trip. Heading south takes you toward Cannon Beach, Ecola State Park, and Manzanita. Cannon Beach's iconic Haystack Rock, galleries, restaurants, and long sandy shoreline are all within an easy drive. Ecola State Park offers forested trails and sweeping views of the Pacific that are especially beautiful on clear days. Golfers also have several options nearby, with courses located between Seaside and Astoria. And if you're simply looking for a place to slow down, you really don't need much of an agenda. Walk to the beach. Listen to the waves. Wander the Prom. Find a little restaurant for dinner. Watch the weather roll across the ocean. Come back to the house, open a window, and let the coastal air move through. That is really the appeal of Turtle Terrace: you're close to everything that makes Seaside fun, but the house itself is tucked into a quieter residential corner where you can settle in and experience the coast at a slower pace. It's a place for beach days, family traditions, salty hair, sandy feet, rainy afternoons, and the simple pleasure of being near the Pacific.

Getting around
Turtle Terrace is in a great spot for exploring Seaside without spending your vacation behind the wheel. The beach and the northern end of the Seaside Promenade are just a couple of blocks away, and downtown is approximately three-quarters of a mile from the house. Once you’re on the Prom, it’s easy to walk along the oceanfront toward the heart of Seaside, with restaurants, shops, attractions, and the beach all connected by the flat, paved promenade. Seaside is compact and very walkable, so for many outings you can park at the house and explore on foot. For longer adventures, having a car is helpful. Highway 101 runs through Seaside and makes it easy to head north toward Gearhart and Astoria or south toward Cannon Beach, Ecola State Park, and Manzanita. The surrounding North Coast is best explored at your own pace, especially if you want to visit beaches, viewpoints, hiking trails, golf courses, restaurants, and the smaller coastal communities along the way. If you don't have a car, Seaside also has public transportation connections. The NW Connector and POINT bus routes provide service along the North Oregon Coast, with connections to places including Cannon Beach, Astoria, and Portland. There are also bike-friendly routes around town, and the Promenade makes for an especially easy way to get around on two wheels. Parking at Turtle Terrace is straightforward, but there are important Seaside parking rules to keep in mind. The home provides parking for two vehicles in the driveway, and guests should use the designated off-street spaces at the property. On-street parking is not permitted for vacation rental guests in Seaside, so please plan to keep all guest vehicles in the driveway. The City requires vacation rentals to provide designated off-street parking and specifically prohibits VRD guests from using street parking. If you are traveling with more than two vehicles, Seaside does offer limited overnight overflow parking permits for vacation rental guests. These permits are available through the Seaside Visitors Bureau at the Welcome Center, subject to availability and the city's requirements. The permitted overflow parking is at the Welcome Center lot, so additional vehicles should not simply be left on the street near the house. There are also several public parking options around Seaside if you're heading into town for the day. The Oceanway lot is close to the Convention Center, Broadway, the Promenade, and the beach, while the 12th Avenue lot provides convenient access to the north end of the Prom. Seaside also has public parking at the Welcome Center and in the public parking garage near Avenue A. The easiest way to experience this part of Seaside, though, may be to leave your car parked at Turtle Terrace. Walk down to the beach with your coffee in the morning, follow the Prom into town for lunch, wander through the shops, and walk back along the ocean when the day starts to wind down. With the beach so close and the neighborhood tucked away from the busiest parts of town, you can enjoy the convenience of being near everything without needing to constantly get in the car.
