Whether you're seeking adventure, quiet reflection, or the practice of Forest Bathing, this is a place to slow down and reconnect with nature. Skamania Lodge, Beacon Rock State Park, Hamilton Mountain, Falls Creek Falls, the Bridge of the Gods, and Hood River, Oregon, are all a short drive away. Inside are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeping up to 11 guests across six beds; outside, a wraparound deck, Gorge views, landscaped grounds, and forest surroundings. The Setting Located on the east end of Stevenson in Home Valley, the home sits on nearly three wooded acres surrounded by forest and native vegetation. A waterfall is built into the landscaping, and a private trail runs through the canyon beneath towering Douglas firs, vine maples, Pacific dogwoods, and native ferns. The trail leads to the Meditation Tree, an old-growth Douglas fir estimated to be 350-400 years old. It is a place that naturally invites stillness. Forest Bathing Originating in Japan, Forest Bathing (shinrin-yoku) is the practice of immersing yourself in nature through all five senses. About the neighborhood
Set in the Columbia River Gorge near Stevenson, this home sits close to some of the region's best-known outdoor access. Beacon Rock State Park and its 848-foot summit trail are a short drive west, and the Wind Mountain and Hamilton Mountain trailheads are close by for guests who want a longer hike. Bonneville Lock and Dam, with its fish ladder and visitor center, is nearby along the river. A short drive away, Hood River and White Salmon add restaurants, breweries, and boutique shops, along with some of the best windsurfing and kiteboarding conditions on the Columbia when the wind picks up. East of Stevenson toward Underwood, wineries including South Hill, Willow, Loop de Loop, and Savage Grace offer tastings with Gorge views. In town, Walking Man Brewing and the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum are both within a few minutes, and Skamania Lodge on the hillside above Stevenson has a golf course, spa, and zip line tour open to non-guests. Getting around
A car is the easiest way to get around the Columbia River Gorge, and it's worth having one for this property. Stevenson sits on Washington State Route 14, which runs the length of the Gorge on the Washington side and connects directly to the Bridge of the Gods for Cascade Locks, Oregon. Hood River, on the Oregon side, is reached via the separate Hood River Bridge further east on WA-14. Portland International Airport (PDX) is roughly an hour away by car via I-84 and the Bridge of the Gods, or via I-84 and the Hood River Bridge from the east. Rideshare coverage in this part of Skamania County is limited and not reliable for regular use - a car is the practical option for reaching hiking trailheads, wineries, river access points, and towns on either side of the Gorge.
