About the neighborhood
The Upper Colonias neighborhood lies on the west side of NM 150, the road to Taos Ski Valley, a 15 minute drive away. The east side is all Taos Pueblo land providing an unobstructed view of Taos Mountain.
There are easy hikes directly out of the door of our house on untrafficed roads alongside, or up, the mesa that provides the neighborhood boundary.
We have an excellent breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch restaurant on the Quail Ridge property. Then within a 5 minute walk, fine dining is provided at Medley restaurant and wine bar.

Getting around
There is parking for 2 cars directly in from the house, When you return to NM150, turning left will take you to the village of Arroyo Seco with an excellent restaurant, a number of craft shops and a healthy foods shop with adequate parking.
Turning right at NM150 and going directly over the light to US64 will take you to the 7th highest bridge in the USA which sits 600 feet above the Rio Grande Gorge. There is parking just beyond the bridge which also provides the base for some stunning hiking. Do go to the Gorge at least once in the evening as you have a 360-degree view of the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see,
If, however, you choose to turn left at the light this will take you through El Prado with its workout center, restaurants and stores. Continue on for 7 minutes into Taos with its numerous galleries, restaurants and markets. Parking lots are the best option as on street parking can be hard to find at peak times,
