Unrivaled Outdoor Living
The true magic of The Birdie Lodge lies just beyond the back door. Our three-acre property is an outdoor lover's paradise, enveloped by untouched forest that guarantees absolute privacy. NOTE:
We are in a very private and remote area for the enjoyment of our guests. This home is treated regularly for pests, but occasionally a bug or mouse tries to gain access to the home to enjoy the climate control. Please keep doors shut!
The Deck: Step out with your morning coffee and absorb the deep stillness of the Northwoods as the morning mist lifts through the trees.
The Gas Grill: Fire up the grill for an afternoon barbecue, enjoying an alfresco lunch surrounded by nature.
The Fire Pit: As night falls, gather under a brilliant canopy of stars—completely free from city light pollution—to roast s'mores, swap stories, and enjoy the peaceful nighttime sounds of the forest.
Bring Your Best Friend!
We know that a true family adventure isn't complete without your dog. The Birdie Lodge proudly welcomes your furry family members, offering acres of safe, wooded space for them to explore. Best of all, the surrounding region is incredibly pet-friendly, meaning your pup can join you on hiking paths, select beaches, and boat rides!

About the neighborhood
Water & Outdoor Recreation
Arkdale Lake: The centerpiece of the community. It’s surrounded by the Arkdale Shores subdivision, which features a mix of full-time residences and vacation cabins. It's a popular spot for fishing and quiet water views.
Petenwell County Park: Located just west of Arkdale, this is the second-largest county park in Wisconsin. It sits on Lake Petenwell (the state's 2nd largest inland lake) and offers 160 acres for camping, hiking, swimming, and boat launches.
Castle Rock Lake: Only a few miles south, this is Wisconsin's 4th largest lake, known for sandy beaches, boating, and a more active "vacation vibe" than the quieter Arkdale Lake.
Nature & Hiking
Roche-A-Cri State Park: Just a short drive away, this park features a 300-foot-high rock outcropping with ancient Native American petroglyphs and pictographs. You can climb the 303-step stairway to the top for a panoramic view of the central Wisconsin plains.
Van Kuren Trails: Located near Lake Petenwell, these trails are perfect for hiking and cross-country skiing, offering a peaceful trek through the woods and along the water.
Local Hangouts & Community
The Mill of Arkdale: A local landmark (re-established in 2023) that serves as a community hub for food, drinks, and camaraderie.
Roche-A-Cri Lions Rec Days: This is the town’s major annual event (usually in July). It features a softball tournament, cornhole, live music, a car show, and fireworks.
Tipsy Tee Tavern: A nearby favorite for local entertainment, frequently hosting events like Bingo and black-light mini-golf.
Golfing
Northern Bay Resort: A unique championship golf course in the area that features "replica holes" from famous courses around the country like Augusta and TPC Sawgrass.
Sand Valley Golf Resort: A world-class destination located slightly north, set among massive sand dunes that make it feel more like a course in Ireland than the Midwest.
