A private mountain retreat nestled in a forested valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains, set along a stretch of the East Fork of the Pigeon River. It is surrounded by clear rushing water, mountain views, and peaceful trails across many acres. Days here move easily between adventure and river time, with evenings gathering around meals, games, and the fire. Your stay at Lodge Lore includes 3 cabins across the property: The Lodge, Goldilocks, and The Hobbit with plush beds, cozy furnishings, and fast Starlink internet, wrapped in genuine Appalachian heritage and log cabin charm. Please read "Good to know" below so you know exactly what to expect. 1) The Lodge -- The River House and Gathering Place The Lodge sits directly on the river and serves as the heart of the property. Hand-hewn logs and stone frame warm interiors centered around a massive stone fireplace. A generous kitchen with Thermador appliances and stone counters is built for cooking together, with a long table ready for a crowd. A wood-burning stove warms the entry sitting room, while the living room anchors the house with views and the steady sound of the river nearby. Bedrooms feature exceptionally comfortable mattresses and fine linens. The bunk room offers relaxed bunkhouse-style sleeping for larger groups. Minisplits for AC and Heating provide basic temperature control. In hot weather, using the space fans provided is necessary for keeping cool. In cold weather, using the fireplaces and firewood is necessary for keeping the cabins comforatbly warm. Sleeping at the Lodge Primary Bedroom: 1 King + 1 Queen (loft overhead) Bunk Room: 2 Twins, 2 Twin Trundles, 1 Queen Sofa Bed Sleeps up to 10 guests. Lodge Recreation Areas The Lost Library A hand-hewn log cabin that seems to have always been here. Inside: billiards, ping pong, games, and shelves of books. Cook-Out Cove Covered pavilion with picnic tables, grill, darts, and lawn games gathered around an old stone hearth. The Grounds Private river frontage, grassy meadows, wooded trails, and Turtle Pond. 2) Goldilocks --The Perfect Cabin by the Pond Goldilocks sits quietly within the forest, its front porch overlooking a small pond. Inside, a stone fireplace anchors the living room and the kitchen opens to a dining space built for shared meals. A slate patio and covered porch offer peaceful places to gather. A short path beyond the orchard leads to private access along the East Fork of the Pigeon River. Minisplits in each space for AC and Heat. Sleeping at Goldilocks Main Bedroom: 1 King Loft Bedroom: 1 Queen Sleeps 4 guests. Parking for 3 vehicles. Note: No TV in this cabin. 3) The Hobbit --A Cozy Mountain Hideaway The Hobbit is a snug and whimsical cabin tucked into the hillside. Rustic and compact, it offers a slower rhythm and a chance to unplug. A Fisher wood-burning stove warms the stone fireplace, and the porch looks out toward a lovely meadow, an old apple orchard, and the Blue Ridge ridgelines with the peak of Cold Mountain in the distance. No TV or climate control in this cabin. (Portable cooling and heating are provided by a wood-burning stove, space heaters, a camping air conditioner, and fans.) Sleeping at the Hobbit: Upstairs Bedroom: 1 Queen Living Room: 1 Twin Daybed Sleeps 3 guests. Parking for 2 vehicles. *GOOD TO KNOW: Lodge Lore offers comfort and authentic mountain living. We want you to know what to expect so you can relax and enjoy it: • Mountain power: Electricity in the mountains can occasionally go out, especially during storms. Outages are outside our control and are usually restored by the power company. Wi-Fi and air conditioning depend on power. • Heating and cooling: The Lodge has mini split heating and cooling in the bedrooms, plus a wood stove. The Hobbit is our most rustic cabin, with no central heating or air conditioning; it has a wood stove, a space heater, and a portable air conditioner. • Nature is close by: These are authentic log cabins surrounded by forest and river. You may see the occasional bug or spider. We treat the cabins regularly, but nature is part of the experience. • Firewood is not provided but is available for purchase at each cabin. We love sharing this land, and we think the river sounds, starry nights, and cozy cabins make it all worthwhile! Explore the Area- Sliding Rock Looking Glass Falls Cradle of Forestry Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks The nearby towns of Waynesville, Canton, and Brevard offer good food, galleries, and small shops worth an unhurried visit. Arrival -- -Check-in: 4:00 PM -Check-out: 10:00 AM -Self check-in. Door codes for each cabin will be provided prior to arrival. -Parking for up to 9 vehicles total across the property. -Outdoor security cameras are located at the entry gate and near the driveways of the cabins. Before You Arrive -- -It is best to stop for groceries before arrival. The nearest stores (Ingles) are 10–13 miles away in Waynesville, Canton, or Brevard and are typically open until 11 PM. Gas stations and small convenience stores are about 5 miles away and generally close around 8:30 PM. -The valley is rural and only main roads have street lights. GPS works well, though downloading an offline map is recommended if arriving after dark. During Your Stay -- -Wi-Fi is available in all cabins. -Firewood bundles are available for purchase at the property. -Quiet hours are 10 PM – 8 AM. Please respect the peaceful nature of the valley.
