About the neighborhood
The Isles of Capri offers a quieter, more relaxed side of Southwest Florida—an Old Florida island community known for boating, fishing, paddling, waterfront dining, and abundant coastal wildlife. It is close enough to enjoy the beaches and attractions of Marco Island and Naples, while still feeling removed from the busier resort areas.
Marco Island is approximately two miles away, offering Gulf beaches, shops, restaurants, and water activities. Downtown Naples, Fifth Avenue South, and the area’s upscale dining and shopping are roughly a 20- to 30-minute drive, depending on traffic.
Closer to the cottage, guests can enjoy several popular waterfront restaurants, including Capri Fish House, Pelican Bend, and the Island Gypsy. These casual local favorites are ideal for seafood, cocktails, sunset views, and watching boats move through the surrounding waterways. When describing them as walkable, I would confirm the exact walking distance and route from the cottage, since Florida roads and heat can affect whether guests consider a destination comfortably walkable.
The neighborhood is especially appealing to guests who enjoy being on or near the water. Kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing charters, boat rentals, and eco-tours are available through local outfitters. Capri Paddlecraft Park also provides access for paddlers exploring the nearby mangrove islands and waterways.
The Isles of Capri is made up of four connected mangrove islands surrounded by shallow bays and coastal preserves. Much of the surrounding area forms part of the greater Rookery Bay ecosystem, creating opportunities to see dolphins, manatees, coastal birds, and a wide variety of fish.
Purple Pelican Cottage is a good fit for travelers seeking a peaceful island setting, local restaurants, outdoor recreation, and easy access to Marco Island and Naples without staying in the center of a busy resort district.

Getting around
The best way to enjoy the Isles of Capri and explore nearby Marco Island and Naples is by car. Purple Pelican Cottage offers a spacious private paved driveway with convenient off-street parking.
Guests are asked to keep all vehicles within the paved driveway and avoid parking on the lawn, landscaped areas, or roadside.
Several waterfront restaurants and island activities are close by. Some guests may enjoy walking or biking locally, although driving or using a rideshare service is often more comfortable in the Florida heat. Marco Island is just minutes away, and Naples is typically a 20–30-minute drive depending on traffic.
Although many local residents use golf carts, the Isles of Capri is not officially designated as a golf-cart community. Guests may bring or rent a golf cart only if it is properly registered and street legal, and they are responsible for following all applicable state and local traffic and parking laws.
