You will be just minutes from some of the area’s best beaches, restaurants, and shops, while still enjoying a calm retreat away from busy tourist zones. Guests love how central the location is—close enough to enjoy everything the destination has to offer, yet tucked away in a tranquil setting where you can truly unwind. Groceries and Essentials Molokai has no large chains; our local shops are where you will find the best island staples. The Barge Schedule: The supply barge usually arrives on Thursdays. For the freshest selection, plan your primary shopping trip for Friday morning. Friendly Market Center: The main grocery hub in town for meats and essentials. Note: Closed Sundays. Misaki’s Grocery: A local institution for over 100 years—excellent for fresh poke and unique local snacks. Molokai Wines and Spirits: The best spot for local spirits, wine, and specialty cheeses. Getting around
Rental Cars are Essential To explore the island’s diverse ends—from the desert-like West End to the tropical East End—a rental car is a necessity. Local Agencies: Most rentals are handled at the Molokai Airport (MKK) by local agencies or Turo hosts. Airport Proximity The condo is located approximately 15 minutes (9 miles) from the Molokai Airport (MKK). The drive to the property is a direct route along Maunaloa Highway and into Kaunakakai. Parking at Molokai Shores On-site Parking: We provide free, unassigned parking for one vehicle in the complex lot. Accessibility: The lot is conveniently located near the units, making it easy to load and unload gear for your day trips. Walking and Biking Kaunakakai Town: From the condo, town is a 15–20 minute walk or a 5-minute bike ride. This is a great way to grab morning coffee or browse the local shops without worrying about parking. Cycling: Some local shops in town offer bicycle rentals, which are perfect for exploring the flat coastal roads near the property. The Molokai "Hele On" Shuttle There is a limited rural shuttle service that runs between Kaunakakai and other parts of the island. However, the schedule is geared toward local commuters rather than sightseeing. If you plan to rely on it, please check the current county schedule in advance as times are subject to change. Taxis and Shuttles There are a few locally operated taxi services and airport shuttles. Because these are often one-person operations, it is best to call and schedule your rides at least 24 hours in advance.
