Casey Key is an upscale barrier island in Nokomis, FL, just south of Sarasota

Getting around

The island is about 8 miles long, narrow, largely residential, and has essentially one main road running north–south along its length. There are no traffic lights, no commercial districts, and relatively little through traffic. Casey Key is one of the more pleasant cycling areas on Florida's Gulf Coast. The road is scenic and shaded in places. Many visitors enjoy riding bikes or renting a golf cart on the island, taking in Gulf and bay views along the way. Walking works well for short distances, beach access, and neighborhood exploration. However, Casey Key is long and narrow, so walking from one end to the other is impractical. Most visitors combine walking with driving or cycling. Public beach access points are concentrated near the southern end around Nokomis Beach.
