The Wilson River is one of the defining features of the area. A path from the property leads toward the river, making it easy to enjoy the water and surrounding forest without having to go anywhere else. The river is popular with anglers, particularly during salmon and steelhead seasons, and the surrounding forest provides miles of opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, wildlife watching, and scenic drives. Getting around
Ample parking is available on site at Misty Mountain River House, making it easy for guests to bring multiple vehicles and have convenient access to the home throughout their stay. You will not need to rely on street parking, and there is no need to search for a parking spot when you return from a day of exploring. Because the property sits on two private acres in a forested setting, the approach and parking area have a more natural, rural feel than you would find at a typical neighborhood or city property. A vehicle is highly recommended for enjoying this area. Misty Mountain River House is located in a peaceful forest setting along the Wilson River, and most restaurants, grocery stores, attractions, beaches, trailheads, and other activities require driving. Highway 6 is the primary route through the area and provides access between the coast, Tillamook, and the surrounding forest communities. The drive itself is part of the experience, with towering evergreens, winding roads, river views, and beautiful scenery along the way. Guests should be comfortable driving on rural and winding roads, particularly when exploring deeper into Tillamook State Forest. Conditions can vary with the weather and season, and forest roads may be narrow, winding, or uneven in some areas. If you plan to explore OHV areas, hiking trails, fishing spots, or more remote parts of the forest, allow extra travel time and be prepared for changing road conditions. A standard vehicle is suitable for reaching the home under normal conditions, but guests visiting during winter weather should monitor conditions and use appropriate caution. Cell service can be limited along portions of Highway 6 and in the surrounding forest, so it is a good idea to download maps or directions before heading out for the day. Starlink WiFi is available at the home, providing reliable connectivity once you are settled in. The location offers a wonderful balance for guests who want to explore without staying in a busy tourist area. You can drive into Tillamook for groceries, restaurants, coffee, and local attractions, head west toward the Oregon Coast for beaches and coastal towns, or stay closer to home and explore the Wilson River and Tillamook State Forest. After your adventures, return to the private on-site parking and the quiet surroundings of the river and forest.
