Getting around
Navigating the Garden Isle from Plantation Hale Suites is simple thanks to our central East Side location. Whether you are renting a car or exploring on foot, here is how to manage your transit: Airport Access (LIH) Distance: Lihue Airport is just 6.3 miles (approx. 15 minutes) from Unit F10. Rideshare & Taxi: Uber and Lyft are active on Kauai and can drop you directly at the resort. Traditional taxis (like Kauai Taxi Company) are also available at the airport curb. The Kauai Bus: For budget travelers with minimal luggage, the Route 100/400 bus runs hourly between the airport and Kapaʻa. The closest stop to the resort is at the Coconut Marketplace or the Courtyards at Waipouli. Car Rentals & Turo While many essentials are walkable, a vehicle is highly recommended for exploring the North Shore (Hanalei) and West Side (Waimea Canyon). Airport Rentals: Major rental agencies (Hertz, Avis, Enterprise) operate a quick shuttle from the LIH terminal to their nearby lots. Turo (Peer-to-Peer Rental): Turo is a popular and often more affordable option on Kauai. Note: Turo vehicles are generally not permitted for pickup directly at the airport curb. You will typically take the Turo-branded shuttle (running 7 AM – 11 PM) from the terminal to the Kukui Grove Center pickup lot in Lihue (behind Target), which is about 10 minutes from the airport. Resort Parking: Your stay includes on-site parking right near the H-building. No parking permits or additional daily fees are required for guests. Walkability & Biking You can easily enjoy a "car-free" day in Kapaʻa: Ke Ala Hele Makalae (Coastal Path): This paved 8-mile path is just a 5-minute walk from your door. It’s perfect for a morning run or a scenic bike ride. Bike Rentals: Several shops, including Hele On Kauai and Coconut Coasters, are within walking distance and offer cruisers, mountain bikes, and e-bikes. The Coconut Marketplace: Located immediately adjacent to the resort, this provides instant access to coffee shops, boutiques, and dinner without needing to drive.
