Payments & Compliance Associate

We are seeking a Payments & Compliance Associate to help us scale our embedded banking product.  Working closely with the finance and sales teams, you will be an important piece of enabling the seamless customer onboarding and movement of money through our platform.

You’ll help ensure Fairly remains compliant with banking and AML requirements while supporting smooth, reliable payment operations. Over time, you’ll grow into a process owner and contribute to expanding Fairly’s banking and payout capabilities.

Core Responsibilities
  • Compliance Program Support – Maintain compliance policies and procedures, support internal and partner AML/BSA audits, and assist in regulatory reporting and record keeping.
  • Customer Onboarding & KYC – Review and verify new customer files for completeness and compliance, resolve KYC/KYB flags, and escalate potential sanctions or fraud hits.
  • Transaction Monitoring – Track chargebacks, ACH returns, and unusual activity; escalate suspicious transactions; assist with AML reviews and investigations.
  • Payment Operations – Reconcile daily payment activity, ensure transactions are processed and settled correctly, and resolve operational exceptions promptly.
  • Bank & Partner Coordination – Collaborate with our banking and payment processor partners, including compliance counterparts, to manage ongoing reviews and data validation.
  • Process Improvement – Document workflows, identify automation opportunities, and strengthen Fairly’s controls and reporting infrastructure.
  • Strategic Growth Support – Partner with other departments to support initiatives that expand Fairly’s banking and payment options, including testing new financial products and integrations.
Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience in payments, banking, fintech, or compliance.
  • Familiarity with payment flows (ACH, card, disbursements) and reconciliation.
  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and comfort handling data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset and eagerness to grow.

Nice to Have: Experience with compliance or payments tools (e.g., Alloy), exposure to AML/KYC processes, or interest in certifications such as CAMS.
