Market Manager

Various locations

At Fairly, we employ a caretaker model, where independent caretakers are responsible for the care of each home, and homeowners are able to choose which caretaker they work with.  The caretaker is responsible for guest communications and the care and cleaning of the home, and Fairly’s platform handles everything else.  This model - unique to Fairly - drives extremely high owner NPS and customer reviews.

As a market manager with Fairly, you’ll be responsible for leading our growth within your market.

Key responsibilities include:

Helping homeowners get started.

The core of the market manager role is helping homeowners get started with Fairly.  With a mix of self-generated and Fairly-provided leads, you’ll introduce homeowners to Fairly and help them get started.  This aspect of the role is largely sales, but it will also include occasionally rolling up your sleeves: potentially ordering and installing a door lock, or sourcing photos on a new home.  Your role is to ensure that new homes are successfully launched, which means not only signed up for Fairly, but live on channels, with a caretaker selected, and at least three channel reviews averaging 4.5 or greater.  You’ll also guide homeowners on initial yield management settings, ensuring that their early rates are set low enough for their home, but that they don’t underprice the property.

Be the expert on your local market.

Every market has unique practices and regulations, and you will be Fairly’s local expert.  Where do rentals work, and where are they prohibited?  What are the local regulations, and how do we comply with them?  You’ll be our local expert, fine-tuning Fairy’s offering to the local market.

Building your caretaker network.

Exceptional caretakers are the core of Fairly’s success, and a familiarity with exceptional local caretakers that you can recommend will make signing new homeowners easy.  We have already built nationwide coverage of over 4,000 caretakers, but we are continually working to improve the coverage and caliber of this network.  As market manager, you will familiarize yourself with our existing caretakers, and use your local network to bring new caretakers onto the platform.   Your familiarity with the caretakers in your market will allow you to make confident recommendations to new homeowners.

Build your service provider network.

A strong network of local professionals (handyperson, plumber, electrician, painter, etc.) is key to the success of our homes.  As market manager, you’ll identify potential service providers, introduce them to Fairly, and aggregate feedback from within your market.  You’ll empower caretakers in your market with a list of service providers across different functions, and you’ll utilize this knowledge to inspire confidence from homeowners considering Fairly’s service.

Build a real estate referral network.

Fairly has a generous referral program where real estate agents can choose between an initial referral fee or an ongoing commission equal to 5% of rents.  We are also focused on generating leads for our real estate partners, turning our guests into buyers, leading to more homes on the Fairly platform.  And we can support real estate agents with projections on properties that they list for sale or that their buyers are considering.

Ensure the ongoing success of your market.

While removed from day-to-day operations, you’ll be responsible for Fairly’s ongoing success in your market.  If a property in your market is struggling - perhaps due to mediocre reviews - you’ll intervene, potentially advising the homeowner to make needed improvements, or to switch caretakers if the issue relates to cleanness or communications.

We have a high bar for success at Fairly: our average Airbnb review is 4.9, greatly exceeding the 4.5 average amongst large managers.  These high reviews - combined with our multi-channel distribution and advanced yield management - helps drive our outperformance on bookings.  Our goal is for every home on the platform to have an average rating of 4.8 or higher.
